I had a bit of a drinking session on Saturday and ended up being really ill yesterday. I was sick several times but felt better by early evening so managed about 4 mouthfus of a jacket potato. Unfortunately that came back up about an hour later and there was blood in the vomit. Probabaly not much as it always looks worse than it is but I would say about a tablespoon full. I was getting a few tummy pains last night and a few today. Do you reckon I may have un ulcer? I am a bit of a drinker (usually have a bottle of wine with my meal most nights).

Yes!!
I've had ulcers, gone now thankfully
go to your GP
I suggest you just go to the doctor, if something's bugging you then you might aswell get it checked out. Don't worry yourself unnecessarily.

Thanks.

Guess I'll have to lay off the booze for a while!
and fried foods and spicy foods and just about anything that gets you excited etc
see your GP soonest!!!!!!
Did you know that you can get stomach ulsers by chewing gum?
I know it might sound a bit simplistic, but have you ever thought of cutting-out the booze? A bottle of wine seems a hell of a lot to drink every night.
My next door neighbours must get through about 8 cans of larger each night, between the 2 of them.

Now I think about it it all makes sense. I put my back out last month and was living off alot of painkillers and they irritate your stomach don't they? And I love spicy food so I won't be happy about staying away from my beloved jalapenos.

Cossroads, is that really true? I never the touch the stuff anyway but I remembering hearing that in the playground 20 years ago and thought it was nonsense actually.
Absolutly true.
While you are chewing the gum, the stomach knows you've got somthing in your mouth and prepares adcids to digest it. More and more acid is produced, while you are chewing the gum and as nothing is digested at the end of it a stomach ulser can be formed.
Yeah
if you were on Ibuprofen they can irritate the lining of the stomach, that's how I got them and being in a stressful situation at the time
ulcer blood is normally dark isnt it? I didnt think it was often red.

If you were sick several times the night previously I would have thought it was more likely that you had a tear of irritation from doing this in your throat or esophagus (sp) and that caused the blood. Dont google blood in vomit whtever you do, you'll be dying of something before you see the doctor.

I was taking 400mg of ibuprofen and 30mg of codeine every 4 hours. (I was in an awful lot of pain). Will they go away of their own accord? Its such a hassle seeing my doctor, you have to make an appointment in the morning for that day so I would have to stay home fro mwork with no guarntee of actually getting an appointment. Bl00dy government targets!
Oh no! I chew gum ALL the time! I literally go through a pack a day! Sh!t! I will have to keep at eye on that.. and I eat chillies! Thise little Thai ones all the time! I put them in everything.. even sandwiches now!
Actually.. thinking about that.. My mate is 40yrs old and she had chewed gum all her life.. she is addicted to it and she goes through packs and packs of it a week... and she has perfect teeth and never ever has fillings or anything! Hmmm....
