How do the police access deleted files?
From what I understand, when you delete a file on your computer it isn't actually erased. Instead directory addresses are rewritten so that for all intents and purposes the files are gone. This is also true about formatting, the main directory is reset to show all clear. Only when an erased file has been overwritten is it gone for real. Using a program such as PC Inspector File Recovery enables you to recover lost or deleted files. Not sure if it will work on internet history though.

If you click here it will take you to a site where you can download it for free.

Thank you. Did you get your user name from a old Goth inspired London Club of the same name?
If only it were that simple. It's true that 'deleting' a file merely removed the file system's pointer to the start of the file. The file is still there and it's possible that a mere defrag will scramble things sufficiently. However Internet Explorer maintains a 'secret' log of all web activity. Google for index.dat then reformat your machine and install Firefox.
u could always install some of those unobtrusive key stroke loggers which in some way will allow u to see what has been done on ur computer other than that try some of the kids internet protection software....it might do the job.
Hi londondave, the name wasn't inspired by any club. It merely reflects my state of mind.

By the way, hope the link was useful.
