What movie is this?

I watched a movie many years ago, i think it was made in the 80's. I'm not sure of the actors but the story was about a man who was on his way to ask his girlfriend to marry him but got run over and killed. He then basically got reincarnated and born again and fell in love with his old gilfriends daughter. He then has flash backs of his previous life.
Does anybody know what this film is called?
