As i am trying to cut down on my salt intake and finding it hard im wondering if theres anything i could substitute it with thats not as bad for you any ideas? x
Sea salt is better for you than normal table salt. You can also get a herb and salt mixture- I think it's French, which is also slightly better than normal salt. My advice is to try and make food taste more interesting using herbs and spices- garlic, paprika, pepper etc. After a short while your taste buds adapt and you actually go off salty food!! Also if you avoid eating processed food, you will be drastically cutting down on your salt intake without even realising it!
I haven't used salt in cooking for years, (at least not added any) or put it on food at the table and have got used to it. At one time I used mixed herbs instead, but don't even bother with that now.
Another way of cutting down is gradually reduce the amount you are using, that way at least your taste buds won't feel too deprived!!!
Hope you get on ok...
