I've got a hot oil hair treatment from Avon (not the one I ordered, obviously - when is it ever?), for when I come back from holiday, and there are no instructions. I guess I heat it up in a bowl of hot water, apply and leave for ten minutes or so. Does this sound right?

just use the hot water from a tap and leave it in for 5 mins or so. If you use boiling water & heat the oil it will be too hot & could burn . & yes leave in for 5-10 mins & rinse. I would try to not get too much near your scalp. Gets a bit greasy.
