Currently on the "you Tube" website there is a short film under the title "Chinese transfer press." It shows Chinese power press operators sitting underneath a large power press while it is in operation. It states that the factory in question is an automotive pressings plant somewhere China. Does anyone know which automotive plant this is or can you tell me how I can find out. Thanks.

Hi Paul Yukochan. I work as a toolmaker at a factory that has a large pressings plant and ,as having worked all my working life in a press shop environment I have never seen such an abuse of health and safety. Even when I served my apprenticeship in the early 1970's I was never allowed to go into a power press and work on a large press tool, unless it was set down on jacks .Press operators were protected by a barrier that raised up during operation and made sure that they were well back and safe.
One of the chaps in the film is quite tall and has to duck down when press comes over , if he forgot to his head would end up inside his chest cavity
The tooling appears to be automotive. Our plant director was shown this footage and would like to know the location and myself and the others members of the proletariat want to know so that we never mistakenly buy one of their products. You may agree or you may not.
Yes, but why does it affect you what they're doing in China?
Cripes - that's bloody awful. If you find out where it is, make sure to post it.

Cascarelli - this is a ridiculous situation where humans are being exploited for cheaper car parts. I wouldn't care if it was china or chigwell - the results are the same, I wouldn't want to support such practices. And no, i don't buy Nike trainers either...!

Becasue I assume if highly dangerous practice is occuring which puts people's lives at risk it is of concern and possibly some action however little could be undertaken such as not purchasing from this factory as a sanction. Possibly some people have sympathy for others whether they are strangers next door or many miles away
