Oh congratulations!!!!! I bet you are so thrilled!!

Take it easy for the next few weeks as you will find you are totally exhausted and may need day time naps. I wouldnt worry about what you eat too much as if you are feeling sickly you will prob lose your appetite. Just eat what you want and when you want for now. (appart from undercooked meat, eggs, pate and soft cheese) Drink plenty water/juice and take folic acid supplements.

Have a look at the ivillage website, it is really really helpful for any questions you may have,
Wooo hooo!!! Congratualtions!! Thats absolutely wondeful!

Welcome to the world of pregnancy!!!! Its amazing(especially once sickness has gone...!lol)

We're having our first - found out its a little girl! U have sooo many wonderful things to look forward to!

Couple of Tips:

****Eat ginger biscuits, raw ginger, drink ginger tea (anything ginger basically) if you have bad morning sickness, this should calm it down.

****Buy some Folic Acid tablets and take ASAP! Decreases the chance of baby having Neural Tube Defect.

(What is a neural tube defect? The neural tube formed during the first month of prgenancy, becomes the baby's brain and spinal cord. When the neural tube doesn't form or develop properly, this can result in neural tube defects such as spina bifida. Your health care provider can prescribe a prenatal vitamin that contains the right amount of folic acid. If you have had a previous baby with a neural tube defect, you will need an even higher dose of floic acid. The exact dose and form of the supplement is best determined by your health care professional.)

**** Buy some Omega 3 Capsules:

(In the past decade or so, the importance of Omega 3 during pregnancy has been acknowledged. It is now known that Omega 3 actually plays a large role in the development and growth of your baby when it is in your uterus. Omega 3 helps to:

build the brain
form the retinas
develop the nervous system

Omega 3 is also necessary for your own pregnancy health and wellbeing. Omega 3 helps to:

reduce your chances of developing preeclampsia
reduce your risk for postpartum depression
minimize the chance of preterm labor.)

**** Avoid pate, soft and blue vien cheeses - e.g. brie, stilton, soft eggs, raw meat

What a lovely surprise. Congratulations!!

Your booking in appointment with your midwife should cover most of the points off. It may be a good idea of writing down any questions you have for her/him (you never know) as you think of them.

Thank you all for ur answers x like i said it wont be the last you hear of me x thanks
congratulations!
takes me back to a similar situation many many many years ago, but I was nearly five months before I found out, so I had enjoyed a normal diet, was doing quite rigorous exercise routine, and no-one told me any different so I ate what I liked, and gave birth to a very healthy 9lb 3oz boy, (I did give up the exercise though) I think it is all a load of trollop that mothers shouldnt eat this, shouldnt eat that - I am sure my mother didnt avoid foods when she had me!!
