A friend of mine just returned from holiday in Italy says she saw a photo in Cecine showing King George and Winstone Churchill on a visit to cecine in the 2nd world war. I think this is afake as I can find no record anywhere of King George ever visiting Italy during the War

Hi, apparently he visited to Italy towards the end of 1944 - it gets a brief mention here: http://www.royal.gov.uk/OutPut/Page147.asp
Italy declared war on Britain on 10 June 1940. However, it weighed very heavily on Mussolini's conscience and in August 1941 he invited King George VI, the Queen and Mr Churchill to a fortnight's holiday in the sun in Cecina. Here they are strolling along the Viale Fratelli Rosselli on that holiday in Cecina.
