My garden (in North West England) is full of midges, gnats and fruit or hover flies at the moment making it almost impossible to sit out during the day or evening without being bombarded. Does anyone have any ideas of how to get rid of these pests outdoors please?
Thanks,
Elly

I'm sure theres a device that attracts the dreaded midge and collects them in a bag for disposal later.

It omits carbon dioxide and midges are attracted to it, they follow the source and end up an a bad with no way out. Its being mass produced for the rural parts of scotland to get tourists back, however i know more urban folk would want one too, its a great little device

Thanks I think I may have see something similar on the net but at something like 400 - 500 I'll have to save up!
Thanks again
elly, if your garden and that of your neighbours' aren't too big why not suggest going halves, and putting it in between both houses? They'll be getting a midge free garden free of charge if not!!!
I've found citronella candles and citronella oil burning lamps quite effective, some garden centres sell them.
