What is Long Haul?

Hi there, me and my partner are looking at booking our holidays we were wondering if anyone would be able to tell us how long a flight has to be before it is classed as long haul??

it's a bit vague - I don't think there's an official duration. It used to be that transatlantic was long-haul but they don't really think of New York or even Florida (where lots of families go) as long-haul now. Probably 9-10 hours minimum
Apparently anything over 7 hours is long haul, anything else is short haul!

There's no real answer to that one. In most European major airlines, anywhere within about 4 hours would be flown by the shorthaul fleets on shorthaul aircraft. The longhaul fleets would, generally, not fly any sector below about 5 hours (unless it is what is called a "shuttle" at a long haul destination - we used to fly, for example, Sao Paulo to Rio De Janeiro and back in a day as a shuttle in the middle of the London to Sao Paulo trip). I reckon just about anything inside Europe and to the west of the Urals as shorthaul.
