I just wondered, what would you say the poem 'Spinster' by Sylvia Plath is about, summed up in one sentence?

Here's a link for it, you just scroll down and it's there. I'd appreciate this SOOO much.

Okay, I'm not sure whether this is right but here goes. Everyone's interpretation of poetry is different and your response is the one that matters...

It seems to me that this poem concerns the differences in our life and the chaos a lover can bring when they arrive in our life. It's like autumn, all leaf litter scattered everywhere. It also seems she is equating winter with purity and wishes it was that season. Alone, life is uncomplicated.

So to avoid the upset and strange feelings love will bring, she retreats into herself. Becoming a spinster perhaps not for real, but in her head.
It describes a woman who renounces the disorder that romance brings into her life.
A woman choosing the safety and discipline of a spinster's life over the disarray that a man and love will bring.

Actually, I really enjoyed reading it, and I found it quite easy to understand (I think!). The exact opposite of my usual experience of poetry. Thanks : )
I read the poem plus her poem Love Letter.Spinster is in direct contrast to Love Letter.Spinster the title is your answer she promotes all the good things about being a spinster not accepting the joy of being in love. She is happy with her life and does not want anyone to disrupt it.I write romantic poems under the name Farmerjack check out me on Google if you are interested.
