does anyone know the origin of the Geordie expression "cuddy whifter" which describes a left-handed person?

Well cuddy is Geordie for donkey, and whifter is someone who smells something. I think it is just a combination of words to describe something slightly out of the ordinary.

Here's what my Geordie colleague said: "First I've heard of it. Cuddy is a slang term for St Cuthbert. Don't know what the hell a Whifter is - although whiff is smell but I don't thinks its particularly Geordie."
