Is it okay to mix alcohol and hot drink, like vodka and herbal tea for example. I know you can with whiskey and coffee just wondered if it made a diff with other spirits.

No real problem mixing spirits with hot drinks... except the final taste. Lots of spirits mix with coffee... then there are Hot Toddies and even some variations on the mulled wine style drinks can contain a variety of spirits.
I would think the only real observance would be that the drink is warm to hot and not boiling.
I used to drink Vodka and Tea as a dirty student!
Alcohol has a lower boiling point than water (80c ish I think) dunno if this would burn off much of the alcohol? Doubt it.
I once tried making Irish coffee with vodka because it was the only spirit I had... it was disgusting, don't try it, big waste of vodka and coffee!
Baileys is nice in hot chocolate though.
