this has got me!!!!!!!
can anyone help.
i have a 14 month toy poodle girl who i have known since birth as it was one of my mums, (but sadly my mum never got to see her) and ever since she has lived with me which was when she was about 7 weeks old she has hid her treats. we can get into bed and find about a dozen treats under the duvet. chicken behind the telly, you know name the place shes done it. i have spoken to loads of people and a freind that breeds them but no one has heard of it. and its not that she dosent get enough food or there is a risk of someone pinching it either. she never dont it when she was with her brothers and sisters.
anyone have any ideas??
we do have to laugh sometimes though, as if we havent seen them in the bed, when we get up in the morning we find them all stuck to us.

I can relate to what you are saying about your dog.
I have a Westie who tends to do that at times, but the Westie I had before her did it all the time.
He would hide his food, especially treats, usually in corners of the house. When we watched his carefully, he would pretend he was burying the food simulating throwing earth over it to hide it. Of course, there was no arth in the house, but he would take minutes to supposedly bury this food. Late he would go back to it.
Think it goes back to their instincts of burying bones which dogs did years ago, where as now, dogs are very seldon given bones. They get other treats instead. Hope this helps.

She's saving them for a food shortage! Dogs are scavengers and opportunists. You might feed her at the same time everyday but she doesnt realise you'll always feed her. She's thinking ahead, she's not sure where her next meal is coming from or when it will be so she's making sure she has some emergency supplies!
