I have already posted this question under the jobs section a few weeks ago, but so far no useful answers! Can anyone help me in this section.........

Is there anyone out there who is a driving instructor? I'm thinking of becoming one as I have recently been made redundant and looking for a career change. I have already contacted the instructor college and have got the info etc, but was just wondering how easy is it to get students when you are newly qualified. (I would join a driving school and not go it alone).

hi kazz.

im not a driving instructor, but i work with a lad that used to be..
most major driving schools will give you your pupils. they are expensive to work for because you take out a franchise. have to pay for your own fuel and the use of the car. not sure about anything else, but i have thought of taking the same route as you in regard to new career.
:-)
I did it in 1998. Once I passed the three exams the college put me in touch with several local driving schools and I had ample opportunity to join them. At the time the AA and BSM would actually help with the training. By joining an already established school they would refer learners on to you but they take a slice of the fees.

If you start up on your own it will take time to establish yourself but (I remember my college telling me) there are over 1 million people every year learning to drive.
