Can anyone explain why there is a delay (approx 3 secs) between analogue radio and digital radio broadcasts. I first noticed this when I checked my radio controlled clock against a BBC time signal. Do digital broadcasts go via a satellite link ?

I don't know why it happens but digital / analogue TV is the same as well.
The digital signal needs to be decoded by the radio or TV before it can be shown or played.
