ok. you join the army and go through the selection process and are approved. you get picked up by a coach to take you to the basic training camp. then what? im sure you arent just given a gun and told to get to it. there must be some kind of breaking in proceedure or something. this is for book research by the way. i hope you can help. thanks x

The training in the British army is second to none, from infantry training to trades (REME ) etc. Support when you get the the sharp end, however, is another matter !

good stuff. thanks. any ideas about the first day specifically?
Long while ago for me Boob, but you are usually kept on the move !!

My advice would be this: Be the 'grey man' Don't stand out, Keep your mouth shut and your ears open. Keep in the middle of any training runs, especially if doing
P company (selection for paras) where training staff will try anything to get you to jack it in. Don't - just keep on keeping on.
hi have toagree with derekpara as much as it pains me to do so ,(1dwr) be the grey man and start everyday as a new dy and keep an open mind and most importantly keep your sense of humour it's the only thing the d.s can,t take from you ,good luck . lee
