Prior to the unification of Italy in 1861, Victor Emmanuel II was King of Piedmont, Savoy, and Sardinia. In 1861 he became King of Italy.

A previous King of Sardinia, Victor Emmanuel I reigned 1802-1821.
oops, crossed with kempie there. Must do my research more quickly next time.
He was King Victor Emmanuel II of Piedmont-Sardinia. When Italy was united, he kept the same name.
Me too, jno
AH yes who counts the Kings ?

Austria has a Francis II (1) I think. Napoleon responsible for that one - the Holy ROman EMpire was dissolved of which he was emperor andhebecame Francis 1 of Austria or something like that

and and and Why is our liege Lady, named Elizabeth II ? Huh ?

we had an Elizabeth I of England but there never was one of Scotland, and she is Definitely Elizabeth I of the United Kingdom,

so she could be Elizabeth 1, (11), 1

couldnt she

I havent had much encouragement for that one, I admit.
so it's definitely Kempie the First there...
