hi mackay.
congrats on the birth of your baby! im sorry to hear your feeling down.
i know you have maybe heard all this before but please be patient with your body. its been through alot with your pregnancy and sometimes it takes a year to get back into shape. but im sure when your "little one" starts moving around you will be runnin around after it too so most of the weight will drop off! also you may be eating more to compensate for the loss of smoking so i suggest you drink more water to make you feel full and having sips of drink will keep your mouth and hands busy. (i know that sounds weird but its to make up for holding a ciggie and having one in your mouth!) and also try chewing gum and eating small chopped up pieces of fruit regulary. and also i dont mean to sound rude but maybe you might be suffering from post natal depression thats making you feel down about yourself so maybe you could talk to your doc or health visitor? i hope this helps you. and i hope you feel better soon! take care.
breast feeding is a perfect way to lose the post baby weight - and may suggest it is the reason women tend to store some fact during pregnancy as they demand on their calories when feeding will be very very high
my first baby 15 years ago i was back in my jeans in about 5 days . my second baby 12 years ago i never really did lose that weight . still got it lol good luck
I put on 5 st (yes, not an error!) with my first child. It took me 6 months to lose the weight, by careful eating. It did drop off incredibly quickly as I breast fed - only for 6 weeks - but I'm sure it helped. With my second child 7 yrs later, I put on 4 st and it took me 1 year to lose the weigh, with lots of exercise and stringent dieting. 8 weeks after birth is nothing mackay, it will start to shift when your body has healed from pregnancy, which takes about 3 months according to a friend, who is a personal trainer with expertise in the post pregnant body.
I was back in size 10 jeans within 5 day of giving birth, wahay i thought.
Before you think Im rubbing salt into the wounds here I shall tell you i then went to a size 14 in about 2 months and have been at that ever since.
Im working full time and was from 2 weeks after birth, i sit down all day and in eves am too tired (and busy) to do any exercise and shift the weight (about 2 stone more than i should be).
when babies are tiny its difficult to get an exercise apart from walking, try going out for a long brisk walk with your pushchair once a day. Make sure baby is wrapped up warm but you should also find that the fresh air helps aid sleep as well.
there is no quick and easy way at all. and it's stupid to think there is a fast way you can just drop two dress sizes.
you've just gone through a big thing - you only gave birth 8weeks ago - give your body and hormones a chance to get back into some normal kind of state LoL, i know doctors go on about that magical 6week check, but come on 6weeks is nothing when you've had them hormones and changes going on for 9months. you know the old saying - 9months on... 9months off.

new borns are so demanding, just have some time for you and your new baby - i know that isn't what you want to hear but it's true... use these first few months to bond not to be slogging your guts out on a bloody tread mill. young babies take up alot of enegery and time. and they grow up fast... too fast!

i put on 4st when i was preg (went from 13st something to 17st) i'm now 14st 2lbs and still working on the diet and starting the gym tomorrow. my son is 10months old.

start slowly - like one poster said having a walk with baby in pram is a great way to start. start off gentle and becarful - especially if you had any sticthes or tares.

good luck, be carful though - you got a lil baby who needs a mum in one piece! lol!

xXx
