So I get in tonight to find that not only has my mum used my car today without asking me, she is also wearing one of my tops along with one of my jumpers.

This realllly got to me! Am I alone or would this annoy you too?

I really hope she is insured to drive your car ! Insurance however doesn't really apply to tops or jumpers so I shall stay quiet about them. I'd have been annoyed about all factors here though ..... Grrrr, mothers.... wish I had one :(
i just hope she didnt borrow your partner too.........lol
As long as my mum didn't stretch my clothes or crash my car it would be fine by me.
i think she is selfish!!

i mean what has she ever given you....apart from life,food,knowledge,security,warmth.........love??

shall i go on?
Does she live in your house, or do you live in hers? either way, she's your mum - I'm sure if you borrowed her car and clothes she wouldn't make too much of a fuss, but if she would then you have every right to be annoyed when she does it to you. DId you particularly need the car when she had it ? Maybe just ask her to let you know that she's going to borrow the car in future??
and a car and top and jumper. i bet you dont pay 30 quid board you spoilt brat. i bet the lazy get hasnt ironed your blouse either

all kids will be on your side and all parents of freeloading winging spongers will be on your mums

nothing personal doll but ive got 3 moaners of my own
well said coco.

i understand you being a bit miffed, as its just common courtesy to ask, but its not like she has stolen them and sold them, or that you desperately needed the car or the top and jumper...is it?

i would just ask her to just let you know in future about the car though...as you may have needed it...but if she new you wouldn't need it, i don't see a problem.

and i do know exactly how you feel - as my mum dad, and brother used to take stuff and sell it in the family shop - i would be furious!!
and a couple of times i would turn up at my parents house for a driving lesson to find my car missing - my brother had taken it.
Ummm... No it wouldn't annoy me. Its just small stuff. I cant express any sympathy with you... sorry if thats not what you want to hear.

Shes your MUM for crying out loud. You know.. the one who got up with you several times a night for months on end when you were a baby. The one who fed, clothed and generally did all that boring provide-y stuff.

Come on..
and I bet your mum helped to pay for them!!!!
Would this annoy me? Well, no! If you were away for the day and your Mum needed the car, why should she not have used it, as long as she is legally allowed to??? So, you have never borrowed anything from her? Have you always returned what you borrowed in perfect condition? Was she out shopping for the family ... including you etc.??? She is your Mum for heaven's sake!! Although it would have been nice if she had been able to tell you she needed to borrow your car, I am sure she has done far more for you than you have ever done for her, so I think you should not play the tough nut here. As for the top and jumper, which she probably has the honour of washing every time you wear it ... I wouldn't be the least bothered if my Mum borrowed clothes of mine for the day. My daughter occasionally borrows things of mine and I am fine with that. If I want to borrow anything from her she never minds either, but then we really are very close. You are talking about your MUM, your CLOSEST FAMILY, remember???!!! If you are going to kick off about giving your Mum a bit of liberty, then I feel sorry for you. You make yourself sound like a very possessive young lady who thinks her Mum owes her ... Might it not be that in truth it is the other way round??? Come on, be nice. :o)

First off, I didn't have a go at my mum, I didn't say a thing to her in fact.

And I pay alot of money to live at home, alot more than 30 quid a week (try more than 3 times that) my mum hasn't given me money for anything since I was 13. I actually lend her money for things quite alot. And its not so much the fact that she used my car and wore my clothes, its the fact that she didn't ask or at least tell me.

Thank you very much.
Your mum hasn't given you any money since you were 13...why? are you really sure?
Leave home then. If you are paying 90 a week to live at home surely it will be cheaper to get your own place and space?

If the 86 in your user name stands for the year of your birth then you are old enough to be standing on your own two feet now. I had left home and had a baby at 20.
you are lucky to have a mum, some of us have lost ours.
Regarding the car - there's not only the being insured to worry about, but if she did crash it (and was covered) then it's your no claims that gets hammered. Also taking a car without the owners permission is theft. You may want to remind her of that.

Wearing your clothes - really can't see the logic in that at all. Then again, maybe it's a woman thing.

And yes she may have given you this and that, but basically that's in her contract. She was the one who did things to give birth - something you didn't have any say in - therefore I'd be livid. It doesn't give her the rights to anything of yours essentially.

With regards the 90/week - I'd remind her that it was almost certainly her decision to have you, therefore she should take responsibility and stop pinching that much money off you.
I must admit 90 per week seems a bit steep ~ unless you are earning about 400 per week?
Well, considering I'm 6' tall, my mum is 5' 2" ( I dread to think how she and my 6' 7" father ever had 4 kids, I certainly try not to think about it!) She would never borrow my clothes. Also, my mum could never reach the peddles and refuses to fiddle with the seat slider in my car.

However, my mum does do some annoying things and there are times where I have to bite my lip. Mum's are ace though and should be allowed a little room to do that kind of thing.
Might be worth just having a word saying that you didn't know she had the car and panicked it had been stolen.
Regarding the clothes, just be flattered that your mum is cool enough to dress like her daughter. :)
