My processor was loaded with the above s/w when purchased. For some time I have been receiving messages that it is not a validated copy. To get it validated I need the key/id number. As I have a back up programme disc I thought it might be on there somewhere. Does anyone know how to find the ID No./Key. If so could you please give me instructions. Thank you. If I can't find this number I shall have to pay 100 for a new one. My supplier is no longer in business.

Hi, to find your product ID - Right click on 'My Computer' and go down to 'Properties'. On the 'General' tab under 'Registered to' should be your XP product key and it will look something like this - 11111-OEM-1111111-00000

Hope this helps!
Even if you find the number it may still be an invalid one.

Some valid numbers for XP are posted on the web for anyone to use and some people who build PCs for a living sometimes use these dodgy numbers to avoid having to pay Microsoft for a full copy of Windows.

Mcrosoft have got stricter recently about the use of these dodgy numbers, hence the messages you are getting.
Do you know what I have just run that software above Keyfinder.Exe and it has come up with a completely different number to the number on the Dell Hologram Sticker on the outer case of the PC.

Thanks you all for replying. I found the ID Number OK but Microsoft still say it is invalid so I guess that is that. Shall wait until I am flush and pay for a new key. I cannot get updates without it unfortunately.

Thanks again
