First, although I don't know you, I would like to say that i am sorry for your loss. I presume that you are posting from the USA so not sure if the laws are the same. If your Dad left a will then in the UK you are entitled to see it, also in the UK, if someone dies without leaving a will, there are rules over how the estate it divided up. I would suggest if you can that you start by sitting down with all your family and asking nicely for an explanation of what's going on. Its a sad fact that families do fall out over wills and legacies. Also in the UK, its not ususally possible for one person to handle everything beacause papers require witnessing, even if your sister is not asking one of you, she must be asking somebody. I hope this helps, your post sounded so sad.
Again I'm in the UK so may be different, Pensions generally are a gamble for the pension company in that they take the risk that you will die sooner rather than later. If you die early they will have gained money if you live longer they lose out. What I'm trying to say is pensions only last as long as the person is alive, or sometimes if he/she has a partner until they die.
