The clue given is: "Botches IT eventually!" (7,2) and I have .......... ?U?G?E? I?....It could be BUNGLES IT but I can's think why?

Afraid I can't offer an alternative but if that's the answer, this must surely qualify as one of the worst clues ever written - unless we're missing something! And why the exclamation mark?

Presumably 'IT' represents 'Information Technology' which would have been more subtle within the clue, leading to 'Bungles it' (but the whole clue is dodgy in my opinion!)
