The best type of friends are the ones are the ones who are around 24/7 if you need them, make an effort to see you on a regular basis, always straightforward, honest and consistent.
The worst are the ones who gossip, backstab, lie, only call when they want something, think they know you and suffer jelousy.
My best friend is one that helped me through a rough time over a man, kept it confidential and made sure to check that i was Ok regulary (also helped that she plied me with booze?!) the worst is the latter type of friend that i mentioned above, who has now come into money and thinks she's above all her old friends. urg!

i had a friend who was into black magic and used to do all kinds of nasty spells to try to have power over people.
she was insanely jealous of everyone - usually with no reason to be.
she also used to tell everyone i bullied her and that i had said things about them and even implied she was scared of me, she used a "drip feed" technique, whereby, making small comments and hints gradually gave some people an impression of me. i now am no longer friends with someone who i had been very close to before (which is what she couldn't stand)
she attempted to steal my boyfriends and any guy i showed she slightest interest in she leapt on them.
she shags every guy who went near her, then told everyone that i had too ( not true) so i ended up with guys i'd known for ages suddenly trying it on with me.
she told a girl whose sister was dying of leukemia that she had dreams of the girl in a bed with all her hair falling out, and that the girls dead friend had come to her in a dream and told her stories, freaking the girl out, then latrer admitting she had made it all up to get 'close' to her.
she also went to the dead girls mother and badmouthed this girl (who had been best friends) and now the mother will not speak to the girl.
she then tried to steal her boyfriend.
she tells everyone her dad abused her - he didn't
she went out with a mate of mine just so that her friend could steal his mate from his girlfriend, which really hurt him.
she keeps menstrual blood in her fridge and puts it in peoples drinks.
she used the funerals of 2 friends to perform the 'sharon show' which infuriated most people, and draped herself over the dad of one of the deceased.
she gets obsessed with certain guys and starts stalking them and threatening their girlfriends.
the list goes on and on

I must be one of the very lucky people then. I have a brilliant friend - we have been best friends for about 17 years. We are there for each other (whatever the problem and any time of day or night), we can talk about anything with each other and we have shared some absolutely brilliant times, not to mention helped each other through some terribly painful moments. Sadly we now live almost 100 miles apart and so it is difficult to see each other regularly, but we talk almost every night (the joke is that if we ever fall out BT shares will dramatically fall). If there was an award for the best friend ever, she would win it. I value her immensely and think my life is so much richer for her friendship.
My best friends are 2 girls I've known since first school, even though we don't all get together much anymore (one is at uni and the other works a lot of awkward hours) when we do it's like nothings changed between us, we can still talk about everything and anything and just be proper high schooly again! They're the sort of friends who (hopefully) I'll never lose, even to uni, marriage, moving away etc!

One time I just snapped and had a massive go at her and we've never been the same, I'll talk to her if I see her and she does seem a lot nicer now but not so much that I'd try and regain the best friends status we had!

My best friend has to be my partner, (awww!) he's brilliant and the best person i've ever met, the worst friend was someone both me and my partner were really close friends with, we'd been really close friends for ten years grown up together, stuck together through thick and thin and everything, he moved in with us bcs he was having some problems at home, 6 months later he owed us �300 in late rent and when we challenged him about it he sodded off and don't think we'll ever get our money back, he has absolutely no regrets about anything he's done. I know that because he's clearly a complete sh*t i should just move on cut my losses but it still really hurts.
