i can't recommend one to buy, but i'd recommend you don't buy one by goodmans! ours is a pain in the ar$e - it has a habit of freezing every few days and the only way to unfreeze it is to yank the power cable out the back and plug it in again.
i have had three different boxes in the last 3 years - bush, thomson and something else (can't remember the make!) and they all suffer from the same things: freezing, loss of channels (if you have top-up); and skipping seconds of programmes.

i think the benefits outweigh the problems though as i now get stacks of channels, and with my current digibox can also record two channels at the same time to a hard drive of memeory.
I got a cheapo Matsui one for about 30. One year on and no probs at all. Easy to set up and use and a simple remote. I'd highly recommend it.
I had a sagem and never got more than 6 channels, with numberous people and moving of the aerial, I have gone back to NTL on digital and never been happier, my family have also gone back to NTL and ditched the boxes. My sister managed to get 54 channels but then it would freeze and take forever to come back on. Sorry to rant.
I had a Sagem and got 106 Channels, then it packed up for no reason. Bought a cheap Digimon, waste of money, always freezing. You get what you pay for,I'm afraid.
I bought a sagem & it cannot be programmed to record, so it`s in the spare room. I`ve got Ecostar as our main one & it`d excellent. You need to check the coverage in your area before you buy one. Curry`s or Comet will do this for you.
I used a Matsui one which was great.

Got a new one, a Sagem and it's crap and want to chance back to my old one but ca't find the remote..argh!!!

i brought mine from asdas and it cost me 18 and ive never had ne probs with mine.......its the best buy ive made
I had one for 100 when they first came out about 3 years ago its a panasonic no problems. got my fiance a philips one for xmas last year. no prblems with that ether.

Thanks to all of you for your answers. It would appear that many people are experiencing problems which is a bit worrying as we are all supposed to be going digital in the next few years. I have decided to buy a Matsui and I will let you know how it behaves.
