The other day I was in a pub walking towards the toilets and noticed my ex standing by the bar he said hi and I said hi, both of us were very pleased to see each other. After the toilet and sat down at my table with my mates, mostly guys with me. About an hr after my ex sat on the next table to us, the table was more or less on my table it was so close, he sat facing me. :) He usually does this. Then after a few hours me and my mates left the pub, while leaving my ex didnt say bye or didnt look in my direction. Do you know any ideas why hes like this, he always does this kind of thing?

Why don`t you ask him?...after all he`s your ex and you know him better than anyone on here

That was the last time Ive seen him, I dont have his number or anything. In the pub he wouldnt of said anything to me as I was with my mates. Before that I saw him about a year ago.
It seems as though your "ex" still has some strong feelings toward you but rather than express them to you because it may seem out of place or inappropriate given that the relationship is over then it looks like a form of intimidation to me.You could either confront him as to his behaviour or do the same and totally ignore him.Depending on the time elapsed after your break-up and the reasons for it,he may also think your trying to belittle him by having mostly male company and in a strange way feels threatened by this.As long as he doesn't start following you anywhere else then I would ignore him and he may get the message and not sit within such close proximity.
Did you say bye to him? Maybe you were both waiting for each other to say it?

It's also possible if he was with mates that he could be in a new relationship an didn't want to see seen speaking to his ex in front of his mates or something like that.

Seems to me he already made the first move by sitting so close, I'm sure there were plenty of places he could have sat in the pub - not just the table next to you.

Did you say 'goodbye' to him? maybe he didn't ralise you were going. maybe he felt a bit p***ed off you didn't respond to his seating plan!!

I'm just looking at this from a different angle rather than assuming he's done all this on purpose.

Does it all matter tho if he's your ex? - Ex's are ex's for a reason.

Thanks. He split up with me about six years ago, we were quite stubborn at the time. I like him sitting by me. x

Yeah I said bye to him.
Hang on...He sat facing you...He usually does this?...How many times has he done this then?
Question Author
Once sitting by me.

About two or three years ago on different occasions hes came up and talked to me. This was a few years ago tho.

Hes always and still now wants me to know that hes in the same pub or place as me. Feels a bit like theres unfinished business - in a nice way. How can I break the ice, Im slightly afraid of breaking the ice in case he runs off, I dont know how he wants us to be. For instance distance mates, good mates or more.
Next time ....buy him a pint, ask him if he still wants you as you obviously still want him...get p!ssed then go home and sh@g each other senseless...afterwards if it don`t work out...blame it on the drink
Question Author
I'll buy him a pint when I next see him and see what he says.

Lore - hehe how do you mean by the seating plan? :P
sorry but i don't think this is a nice thing. i think he is trying to be intimidating and belligerent.

the fact that he ignored you when you left shows he is not in a good mood.

he still thinks he has some kind of power over you and is jealous.

next time, shift seats so you have your back to him

unless you want him back...then invite him to join you
