Am dismantling shed. Have single outdoor plug socket mounted on shed wall. Is it easy for amateur to unscrew it, after switching off electric supply, or should I hire an electrician?

It's an easy job to do. Remove the cover (where the three holes for the plug are) with a screwdriver. On the inside, you should see two screws that are driven into the shed wall. Unscrew those, and the job's done.

What about the electricity supply bit, Bookbinder?

If you don't know what you're doing, get an electricîan. Its not worth the risk.

Thank you for your help. I will make sure that the electricity is turned off.

Phew Muskox, I am so pleased to know that.

You're ok musk, but you can't leave a loose socket flapping around. You must disconnect the feed to the socket. 😊

You'll need to ensure the supply end of the cable is permanently disconnected. Can't have a live cable at the end of the garden.

Unless there is a separate supply to the outdoor socket which you can turn off or disconnect, then the wires supplying the socket will still be live after removing the socket, when you turn the power back on.
