When having an early lunch today at our favourite venue, I asked what chai is, as it's on their drinks menu. It was explained that basically it's tea but made with hot milk instead of hot water, with variations.

Anyhow, sitting there eating our panini, the manageress came over with two very small mugs of blueberry chai for us to try. Have to say I quite liked it as it wasn't sweet as I imagined it would be, just warm and comforting. I drink fruit tea and it wasn't dissimilar but obviously milky. I don't think I'd choose it over a latte though.

Anyone here a chai drinker?

I love a chai tea latte it makes a nice change from a coffee

When I was in the army, I was posted to Kenya. We lived in tents, and there was a shop on site that was run by Indian people. They would send a 'chai wallah' round the camp every afternoon. He carried a large, metal kettle full of tea, and he would call out 'chai wallah!'. We would then go outside with our enamel mugs, and he would fill our mugs with chai. Very nice!

I drink more of this stuff than I do of either regular tea or any type of coffee.  It's gorgeous!

Interesting, people, thanks x

Do you drink it with or without milk Chris?

^^^ With milk and sweeteners, Maydup.

Never heard of it before believe it or not. I'm tend to drink just coffee now because I could never find a tea I liked. These tea bags taste rubbish.

I had a chai in a spa once. I had been hoping for a glass of champagne, which Husband had been offered when he went before.
But never mind.
