I am not generally superstitious but I'm starting to think that there is something fundementally wrong with this plane. I ain't getting on one!

It sounds to me as though the 'plug' is bolted onto the outside.

Far safer I would have thought to use a genuine plug - bigger than the hole. It would require les bolting in position as the air pressure would force it to stay on position.
