Anyone know any miracle cures or anything other than loads of water,cranberry juice,good personal hygiene , cystofen ,and eventually anti-biotics.?

I found this for my sister, she has bought some and is hoping it will work. You can get in online. Other than that, don't use perfumed soaps, tissues etc, and wear cotton underwear.

Not very nice- I am just prone to it and the ones I mentioned don't always work. Just wondered if there were any vitamins or homeopathic remedies thats all.

Have you tried homeopathic Apis Mel 6? I usually make some real barley water which always works. Buy some POT barley (not pearl) which you can get in a good health shop. Boil about 200 grammes with a litre of bottled water and simmer for about 20 minutes. Strain this into a jug, cool and add a few drops of lemon juice and little honey. Just sip it throughout the day. Hope this works for you.

I buy cranberry tablets from Holland & Barratt. Take two a day, Up until March I suffered virtually every month with cycsitus, but since taking the tablets, touch wood I havent had anymore episodes.

Interestingly Doctors usually won't give you antibiotics for cystitus as they say it is not an infection , but when my cat recently had it the vet gave her antibiotics which he said is normal practice for animals as 'although it's not an infection, and antibiotics shouldn't work, they do'.

I also found lots of hot weak, caffeine free tea (makes you wee a lot) and a hot water bottle on the tummy helped.

Actually I've just been to the doctors and he HAS given me anti-biotics, as he says it is most likely to be an infection,and I've had them before.
I was just asking the question because I don't like anti-biotics and most don't agree with me,so I want to avoid them, if possible.

Thats strange, my dr confirmed it was an infection and gave me AB right away when i had it!

I thought cystitis was a bladder infection, so could be treated with antibiotics

Go to a chemist and ask for a bottle of Mis. Pot Cit.(potassium citrate) - can't remember what the 'Mis'
stands for though. You take some of this diluted in water.
It really helps!!

Just drink water constantly. I drink litres and litres a day because i worry about getting it all the time. The day i lost my virginity i got cystitus, and was too embarrassed to talk about it. I ended up having to go to hospital and on a 3 month course of medication because id ruined the lining of the urethra, bladder and kidneys... If you just go on antibiotics to get rid of it, make sure you stay clean and dont have sex, if thats whats causing it... then after its cleared up just drink lots of water all the time. If it is sex thats causing it, make sure you go for a wee before and after. Haha, i apologise if it isnt sex related!
