Struggling with the right hand side of the grid. There are 3 types of clues:

normal;
two consecutive letters to be removed from cryptic element before solving, leaving real words in clues; and
single letter misprints in definitions, to be corrected before solving.

Any help with:

21 d. Engineers turning up with contract to cover North Riding (8).
???R???? ;

8 d. Extract from the Devil's Daughter further down (5) ?D??? ; and

24 a. Saint Mark buried in Spring (5).
?K??? ;

would be very much appreciated.

21 is EMERGENT, contract = 'get' (the flu) although I can see the 'gig' possibility.

3d is a 'wInd' - 'family crest' is MON and 'early' is...
33a - something 'boRing' is D????Y (a 5 letter word for 'rough' after D[ay]).
39a an obscure def for stallions = 'entires' and you'll get 'fOyers' by moving the R(king) to a different part of the word.
