To accompany the Great Gadgets thread, what do you have that seemed a good idea at the time but after a couple of outings now lives tucked away permanently in a cupboard?

For me a bread maker and an ice cream maker.

//I bet there's a cherry stoner in a drawer from everyone who had their first home in the 70s//

Now that's something I did use a lot, it was very cheap bought when we lived in Germany and I was so annoyed when the poking bit broke off after about 30 years!
Indeed, a George Foreman grill, dreadful machine.
Yes, also a melon baller…why???
And a zester, although that’s quite useful for scraping the grill of any burnt on bits.
A coffee pod machine which we tried very hard to enjoy but just doesn’t do it for either of us. Can’t throw it out though as it was a birthday gift from one of the children.
A mandolin bought at a food show. It looked very easy when demonstrated, I’ve used it twice, ended up with a kitchen covered in bits and grated knuckles.
boiled egg maker used once
soup maker used once
Forgot about the soup maker, what an expensive bit of useless gadgetry.
pasta, that was only when the EU was introducing regulations that all eggs must be square. Fortunately for British hens, Brexit put an end to that.
^^^I knew there must be a benefit, no matter how small.

A zester was mentioned...though I don't use mine very often, it does the job neatly.
I just grate the zest pasta, much easier I find.
Really?...I find the zester doesn't waste anything and is easier to clean.
A timely reminder to get the electric orange juice extractor out of the cupboard.
A Freecycle inheritance.
A Girolle for Tete de Moine. I acquired the taste for Tete de Moine whilst staying at The Royal Dartmouth Hotel a few years ago. The manager told me he bought it from Lidl. I have never seen it there. I had to buy the cheese from the Netherlands although it is Swiss. They don't export to the UK anymore so no Tete de Moine and the Girolle sits idle in the garage. :-(
A breadmaker, I use it occasionally, a mandolin slicer which nearly sliced my fingers off.
A coffee machine that I used for a few weeks then got fed up with cleaning it every day so bought a percolator.
Used that a few times and got fed up of waiting for the coffee to be ready, so I'm now back to instant.
My bicycle (had 4 uses)
Slow cooker (0 uses)
Nintendo switch (3 uses)

Could you not use other cheeses, retro ?

Definitely a mountain bike that I bought 12 years ago and only went out on it twice. The two times I used it were on Saturdays, chosen because I thought the roads would be a bit quieter. Never again! Why anyone would want to travel on two wheels is beyond me. Frightened the life out of me. Now, I can't even give the bike away, and it's virtually unused. There was a feature a couple of months ago on BBC Look NW about a charity that takes anything from people because someone, somewhere will use it. I phoned them; nah, we can't use that. So it still stands in my garage, just waiting to be ridden off into the sunset by anyone who'll care to collect it - for free!
