The Cairngorms, Scotland. The area always looks peaceful and undisturbed by today's troubles. Plus, it reminds my wife and me of the holidays that we had there, when we were young and fit enough to climb (almost) every mountain in sight!
We are particularly fond of Pembrokeshire, around Broad Haven/Little Haven and surrounds. Glorious beaches and countryside along the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path. St Govan's Chapel is a delight.

We love many parts of Scotland, coastal and inland. We used to do a lot of touring holidays in the car, exploring different parts. If it's raining, drive down the road and it's dry.

Our closest seaside resort is Weston Super Mare, which is back 'on the up' after it went in to decline. It'll never be posh but has a real holiday vibe. Always good for a weekend with the grandkids.

We've had fantastic holidays cruising the Norfolk Broads, off season is by far the best way to enjoy the experience.

I nearly forgot Devon and Cornwall, too many great places to mention. And Yorkshire.
bookbinder, I will never forget driving through the Cairngorms in driving rain, a million miles from anywhere. Suddenly, the rain stopped, a rainbow decorated the sky and there, all alone with no other building in site, was a post office. And it was open.
The Gower Coast or North Norfolk
barry1010, your Cairngorms experience has clearly left an impression on you, and that's what that part of Scotland does: it leaves an impression. A beach is just a beach, a pier is just a pier. Seen one, seen 'em all, but the Cairngorms is something else.
Northumberland...beautiful, rugged, deserted, castles.
Norfolk coast, especially the bit between Cromer and Wells next the Sea, Anglesey, North Wales , and the Isle of Wight ( because it's so old fashioned )
Teignmouth, Devon. On the sea and close to Dartmoor. Walking on the promenade, individual shops and pubs, restaurants.
The Torridon area of Scotland, and Mull as a close second.
York or Doncaster - from where one can reach almost every Yorkshire racetrack with ease, and get back to base in time for a few bevvies:-)))
The Isle of Man, though technically not part of the UK.
East Lothian's nice and has the added advantage of being close to Berwick-Upon-Tweed for booze deals that we're not allowed in Auld Scotia.
Actually, I'd be happy with anywhere right now without phone or internet and just to be left alone for a few days.
you could still have AB posts delivered to you by pigeon, Barmaid
Living in coastal East Lothian, reputed to be one of the sunniest places in Scotland (along with Tiree) I have a choice of many small local resorts but, going farther afield, I think Oban would have to be my favourite with its easy ferry access to the Western Isles .... Pitlochry, Fife coast and Ullapool also favourites. In England, like the Rye area, Somerset and Cornwall.
Probably the Scillies.
I live in the Norfolk Broads area and you really can’t beat it. When we fancy a change of scenery we enjoy North Yorkshire or for a dose of culture, we head for London.
Wester Ross for me.
Gairloch, Gruinard Bay, and Ullapool, in particular.
