Music on startup/shut down

vehelpfulguy has kindly given me instructions on how to change what music is played when my laptop is started or shut down.What I would like to know now is, is it possible to extend the amont of time the music plays for? There seems to be a default of around 2 seconds, but I would like to extend this to arond 5 or 6 seconds.Is this possible to do?

Sorry, not answering your question but asking a related one of my own. I'm interested in the original question/answer about changing the music at start up and tried to search for it but couldn't find it. I would appreciate a link to vehelpfulguy's previous answer. Thanx.

Kenzie : in the Control Panel of Windows, double click on "Sounds and Audio Devices", then on the "sounds" tab.
In there, there's a list of "events" and the associated sounds. You can change them there.

TEAK36 - if you already have a sound file that is 5 or 6 seconds long instead of 2 then choose that. If it only plays for 2 seconds then that must be the length of the "track". Isn't the shutdown sound only just 4 notes? lol

The files themselves should be already stored in :
C:\Windows\Media
If you want to edit any of them, that's where to look.

Just to "peeve someone off" I once caused a persons computer to play eleven verses of "The Star Spangled Banner" on start-up. Essentually you can set the computer to play any .wav file. Just copy the .wav file to C:\windows\media. The proceedure outlined above will then allow you to select the sound file you want. I am not aware of any inbuilt length of tune restrictions tho I must point out that my messing around was on a Win98 machine.,

Oldbob, The file I am using is an MP3 that I have coneverted to WAV.I have stored the file in 'My Music' and have selected it to be my start up music.It all works fine,except for the fact that it only plays for a few seconds.I will transfer the WAV file to C:\Windows\Media to see if it makes any difference.
