A tradesman has been toiling in my home most of the day and has refused all offers of a variety of hot and cold drinks.
Are my facilities and offerings not up to muster?

Anyone else feel slightly miffed in that situation?

I never accept tea (don't drink coffee) because nobody makes it how I like it and I'd rather not have it than have to swallow a mug of dark brown syrup. I like mine with extra milk in first, then the tea bag lifted straight up without squeezing and taken out after a couple of laps with the spoon. People either put half a cup of milk in or not enough and then insist on squeezing and stirring the tea bag till its dark brown. I have been dog sitting this morning, and take my own mug with a decaf tea bag, just the right amount of milk and a sweetener in so all I need to do it boil the kettle.
I must admit, m'colleague and I usually take our own kettle and associated ingredients.

Either that, or they just say "you know where the kettle is" :o)
I don't thin one should take offence at that.

However a while back now, we had tradesfolk sorting out garage issues, and they were happy to accept the occasional mug of coffee. Then on one occasion we opted to treat them to one from our bean-to-cup coffee machine instead of the usual instant. Even steamed the milk, it had a nice lot of frothed milk on top. We discovered later one of them had sucked the frothed milk from the top, but left the freshly ground coffee untouched !!! Wasn't overly impressed. Moral is, don't waste your good coffee.

Yuk
He may have some special dietary requirements.
If that was directed at me; he had no dietary issues with the instant stuff.
If directed to Barry, then maybe so.
Sorry to hijack but just seen the post from Ratter - Ratter please look at the Animals and Nature section!
When we recently were having new windows ,
the workmen accepted our offer of tea , but one didn't .
I was a tiny bit miffed at his snub .

We had to force them to have some apples off our apple tree , which we had just picked .
I think they took it out of courtesy .
If I recall correctly they said they would bring it to the office for everyone to have .
I wasn't convinced :-)

You get it, Baz
We recently had our house surveyed for heat loss, I was left feeling insulated.
Question Author
If you really did have that survey I'd be interested in hearing more about it, douglas.
Why did you have it done, who did it, how much was it and were you satisfied with the results?
Oh dear.
I'd be a bit miffed too, if workmen rejected my offer of tea or coffee. Most who have been here doing different jobs, have never refused my offer, which comes with biscuits or chocolate bar. :-)

I offered home made fruit cake and toast
