As this thread is about the London Marathon I have a photo of me and a colleague discussing the route with Chris Brazier before the first London marathon. Our motorcycle unit ( Special Escort Group)topped and tailed the race and have done so ever since. Our motto was 'We Lead and Others Follow'. Just saying. No controversy who entered in those days and no one cared. It used to be a fun day for all regardless of race, colour or creed

there's no controversy now about who enters, the organisers just want more of them and believe making a greater appeal to a more diverse population would help, which seems logical. Nobody has alleged racism.
