....why would you inflist the weirdy beardies on yourself? Talk about self harm. Can you imagine the crackpot schemes?
"The largely rural district with some traditional chocolate box villages and a heavy reliance on cars for transport and oil to heat homes might not seem the most obvious place for the Green party to target and win over." - oops!

yeh but - it would only need the (minority) conservative group to lose 3 seats to the greens for them to take control, and the greens would only need a further 3 seats to gain overall control. Labour have no presence in Mid-Suffolk, polling only 3.9% at the last local election.
Greens may get the NIMBY vote
I live in Mid Suffolk. The town I live in has consistently returned nothing but Liberal Democrat councillors in the 30+ years that I've been here. However, living in a rural area, with poor public transport links, I can see why a party that prioritises protecting the environment and getting people out of their cars (and onto improved public transport) is likely to gain support in many areas.

The current electoral map looks like this

It's not hard to see why both the Greens and the Lib-Dems are hoping to turn some of those blue areas into either green or orange ones, as Labour hardly ever bother contesting seats around here.
The times they are a-changin'
People are very, very angry with the Tories. I won't vote for them this time. This is a very rural seat. All the business with electric cars etc. -and we have just 2 buses per week, how are people supposed to live? That's just a start. The Yorkshire party will have my vote.
Has anyone read the link? It's about opposing a housing development. Nothing to do with party politics.

The greens will be voted out as soon as they've successfully blocked the influx of the lower classes to the area.
