House prices in Portugal rose 18.7% in 2022, the biggest increase in three decades, and rents have also increased significantly in part due to a speculative property bubble.

They want higher wages, a cap on the prices of essential goods and government action on housing.

Is this the UK, nope, it the sunlit uplands of the EU.

I grow microgreens on my window sill,rocket and other leaves on the balcony I will be growing other salads as it gets warmer, if I can't get cucumber and tomatoes no biggie, loads of other veggies can go in a salad

Many of those who are "panic buying" are running businesses of their own. I know one corner shopkeeper who buys virtually all his fresh produce from my local branch of Lidl. He strips the shelves two or three times a week. The manager actually encourages him to do so ("We can only sell it once").

I'm a little baffled by the furore over lettuce and other salad ingredients. I'm of an age when we did eat seasonally (no my name is not Theresa!) and I actually look forward to root veg. and brassicas during the winter, after summer salads. Yes! I like 'neeps and tatties'!
It was always nice to have a bit of salad in for Christmas and New Year etc., but salads are the last thing I think of eating in winter. I thought everyone was the same. Obviously I'm well out of date.
What's wrong with eating seasonally?
