I hadn't been for at least 16 years or more.
So understandably i was a tad apprehensive, expecting lots of noise and loads of ads.
Well would you believe me if I said the audience were completely silent and there were no ads?
The film was called 'Triangle of sadness'.

Rosie29, the Banshee film was what I wanted to see, but i got the months mixed up!
Hopefully I'll see it next month.
Btw the main reason the cinema was quiet, was because it was in English, don't forget i live in Spain. So I assume most people there wanted or needed total concentration to listen or / and read the subtitles!

Anyway thank folks, 1/2 the films you've listed I've never heard of.
Anybody recommend the new Tom Hanks film? Not sure if i should bother!
Went to see the latest Top Gun film but couldn't wait for it to finish because of the awful racket.
Not from the aircraft ...................from the tribe of gluttons all around eating their own body weight in (crunchy) food.
The noises were appalling.........it was like a chimpanzees tea party if anyone can remember those.

QuizmasterG, Did you go a multi Plex cinema?
I tend to go to indie cinemas, usually people are better behaved there.
I'm glad you have a choice.
Not a great many options out in the wilds.
You have to organise a full days outing to get to a cinema "oop north"
Question Author
QuizmasterG : i dont think i have a choice, i happen to be living in a town in the north of Spain. I believe theres only 1 cinema left! and it so happens to be an indie one. As like towns and cities around the world, most cinemas have closed down! By the looks of things here, we think this cinema is heavily subsidised! while waiting for the previous film to finish and patrons to leave, i dont think there was more than 40 people who left that showing. Our film must have had about 25 people tops!! This was a Friday night!!
//And what did you see NJ ?//

Murder by Decree, with Christopher Plummer and James Mason.

//…two girls in front, giggling and texting…//

One of the (very many) reasons I no longer go to the cinema. Of course texts were not an issue in 1979 but what put me off was the fact that nobody seemed able to spend a couple of hours in the cinema unless they consumed a three course dinner whilst they were in there.
Question Author
Nj, i must confess it was me who consumed that 3 course meal!
mind you i was only 7 at the time.
Last week to see Tar at an art house cinema (nice and quiet)
Question Author
NJ, in the 60s my mum won the bingo and so treated all of us to the pictures to see Sound of Music. Just to put the icing on the cake she ordered a load of fish+chips, which we happily munched in the cinema!
I still cant believe she was allowed to get past the usher and ticket office with all that smelly food!!! I feel a big apology is overdue to the poor people who had the put up with our chimpanzee lunch!! lol.
Question Author
toorak, that sounds good, hopefully it will be shown at our cinema in the near future.
1996. The film was about Michael Collins, the Irish revolutionary.
