Lunch? .. I'd blush to tell!
Interesting you should ask about ploughmans.Did you know it was a marketing invention? In the early 60's The Milk Marketing Board went to an advertising company(Lintas I think) to improve the sales of cheese and the rest as they say is history.
The best I have had was back in the 70s in a pub in Dovedale, Derbyshire. Thick slices of homemade bread, a huge chunk of cheese and some pickled onions and/or Branston pickle. None of the "rabbit food" they are served with today.
hello i am a chef and i love a good ploughmans the best ploughmans are homemade try this.... crusty roll, small amount of salad, as many types of cheeses, pickle onions, pickle, an apple and home made coleslaw add mayple syrup to it its fantastic..
Sorry Sophie but a good ploughman's needs enough bread to go with an ample amount of cheese plus some pickled onions or (Branston) pickle. Forget about the salad or coleslaw :-) No offence intended just my opinion.
