I think the main problem in this country is that, many people dont even know the real reason you need to work, after your education is completed. I dont think anyone on here will think I'm wrong. Its to pay your way in life, food and household bills "FIRST" not doss at home waiting for handouts. There was a new milk bar in my town centre yesterday, there main opening offer was, 1 milkshake and one of those fancy donuts, i couldnt believe my eyes at the price £5.40, people have been buying them. The above gives you a good idea of how brainless people are with money. If there was any real problem in this country you would see UNICEF in action.
Agree again Nice. And unfortunately this attitude carries on to the next generation and so on and on.
Are the nurses who go to the foodbanks, "doss[ing] at home waiting for handouts"?
I think that the other thing people don't take on board is that if you buy that deal each working day it will cost you over £100 per month.
No, just flipping greedy, Corby! No regard to the situation the country is in and no regard to who is suffering! If I was a nurse I would not be striking!
I will always donate to a food bank. Yes there will be those who abuse it but I doubt there is a charity in the world where that doesn't happen.
Of course circumstances change. I went from being quite well off to penniless when my husband went out one night and never returned.

I had a mortgage to now pay alone...no I'm not near brainless... a child to support, bills and food. I had to claim benefits. I needed, and not because I was work-shy, a bit of government help and the occasional kindness from friends.
There were weeks when a food bank would have been a blessing and I've never forgotten that.

I borrowed a little money to set up a small business I could run from home so school holidays wouldn't be a problem. The business thrived but it was nearly a year before I was fully back on my feet.

My memory of that year is why I will always donate to a food bank.
Did you get the house in the settlement, Gness?
Eventually, Zacs. We paid jointly for three years. I paid alone for about ten years.
He had disappeared and legal things were done through his mother which was odd. She refused to give anyone details of where he was but said instead of maintenance for our son he would sign the house over to me. I agreed for peace rather than battles.
Good for you.
Don't think that's what he said, Zacs when I eventually, long time later, found out where he was living and I had a load of horse manure delivered to him on Valentine's Day. :-)
Ahhhh, as me ol' daddy would say "you've nothing to come back for"
