Just heard on the news that people using Food Banks has increased 3 fold in the past year. How do these people prove that they are on the bread line. On TV a very well dressed women with a child collected 3 bags of food and one of the staff helped her across the road by carrying 2 of the bags probably to her car!!

Family helping is all well and fine but what of those who have no family ? In an advanced society this sort of thing should be covered by public kitty. We all pay in as we can, we all receive the help we need when we need it, and no one is disadvantaged unduly. Move responsibility from individuals to society in general. But don't abuse the money once gathered, allocate it fairly and for things that should be covered.
Sqad, don't quote me on this but I think anyone coming from an EU country has the right to anything that is offered to a British citizen, they can't be discriminated against. As I say though, that's how I understand it?
Rocky, you are correct if we go to paripating countries we would be entitled to the same as the population
Following on from that, the non EU immigrants would have to have a visa (and presumably a job) to come here so wouldn't be given benefits etc, but a successful asylum seeker would get benefits etc, is that right FGT?
rocky....LOL.....thanks.....you may well be correct.

I am going to give up on this thread, but i did say that i didn't want it to be Political BUT, at the last election the Brits didn't want Labour in, they didn't want the Tories in, for god's sake something must be done in the UK.

When we emigrated to Spain, it was made quite clear that as we had not pain into the Spanish tax system, we would receive NO benefits. That seems fair.
We have the same health advantages as the Spanish, but that is paid for by the UK.

Why immigrants can come to the UK and get all the benefits just because they come from a European country is stupid.

Not so in Spain.

If you are under 65, you are not entitled to any benefits until you have lived, worked and paid income tax for a period of 2 years.

Even then your pension is dependent upon the length of time that you have contributed,
What happens if you were a stay at home parent and your spouse dies if you live in Spain sqad?
BOO...no idea.....but i will try and find out.

Netibiza may know more.
