Morning folks, not sure how long I will stay awake but had to get a hot drink. I can hear the wind rattling around outside. Weather's so typically english, Mild then cold then mild and windy, then snow and sleet expected next week.
I will be indoors until Tuesday at the earliest, new front door being out in tomorrow. Council put in new ones about 6 years ago but post Grenfell they have fitted sprinklers in every flat and are changing the front doors to a higher fire rating. Before we could choose from a range of style s and colours. Now they are all going to look the same.
Positives
1. Looking out of window like janeway of voyager, unaware that she is being followed by the Borg, up side is , no sign of the Borg from my window, yet!
2. And its not raining stair rods any more, wind has dropped.
3. Grandsons promised to come and help with sawing up log store
Morning all.
Thank God it's actually dry outside for the first time in ages. Can finally get the dog out for a proper walk this weekend.
Was hoping to pop to Covent Garden to get a pair of shoes this afternoon but they've closed a local road round the corner to me and it's causing traffic chaos. Thames Water are a shocking shower.
One more, just remembered, one of OH old friends , recently widowed is coming to dinner tonight. Still not decided what to make but beef stroganoff with tagliatelle looking good. I am sure she needs the company
Spring must be on its way, the greengrocer has pots of tete- a -tete daffodils and hyacinths for sale. I am planning this year's balcony. Last year was big bold dahlias with the tropical looking foliage plants. I think this year I might try a Japanese theme, which I won't need to change, just maintain. I need to replace some of the pots, and need new seating. Plant catalogues are arriving My head is already in the summer!
Spring is on its way, rowan.
The jonquils are in flower and will pick some soon. Their scent is lovely.
I have several plants in flower including a hebe and mahonia.
My garden is rarely without something flowering.
On the down side hail last night and blustery heavy showers today.
Being on a balcony Northwest facing everything gets blasted in the winter. Lots of stuff shooting though, the honeysuckle and Jasmine will be in full leaf in a few weeks, have been harvesting rocket all winter though.
