A number of times I've seen typos or worse (used shoot instead of chute) after posting, but once the text is entered, I don't see how to open it back up to fix it.

The edit facility is open to abuse, people change their posts after replies which can make respondents look stupid.

What's needed (and I've requested it many times) is the Preview feature where you see the post reproduced exactly as it would appear. You can check the spelling, the links, the italics, auto-censoring before either posting it or making changes for another Preview and so on. Many other Forums have implemented this feature. This too seems beyond the skills of Ab's techies.
what's a typo....?
The need for an edit facility to make posters look stupid may be overstated.
When I first arrived at AB there was a preview function and they also listed other posts that could potentially be of interest.
On FB you can see a history of edits made to a post. Maybe the same could work here. The post is updated but the initial post is easily viewed.
