Hi Naomi, sorry I missed your question this morning, I'd already left.

Yes, Dad was in the Eighth Army.

To be more specific, Royal Engineers, 757 A FLD Cy (gleaned from his Army Record recently obtained from MOD - for £30, but much handwriting illegible).

Thanks for getting back to me, canary. I asked because I knew two people who were eighth army - one a gunner, the other who was awarded the oak leaves for valour. I think he saved men from a burning tank. Fascinating history and much to thank them for.
