The above link is already out of date.
Latest indications are that Ukrainian forces are advancing through Luhansk oblast after capturing a string of towns to the north

Excellent news, and thank you for all the updates :-)

Ich I really appreciate your posts , thank you
excellent news, thank you
Let's hope this continues without too much more loss of life.
Superb news, ta ich.
Question Author
The loss of life on the Russian side these last days is eye-watering.
Many fleeing in stolen cars.

UAF have now pushed up to Vovchansk on the Kharkiv-Russian border.
Fighting at Donetsk airport
And astoundingly they’re also reportedly storming Lysychansk - the city in Luhansk it took Russia weeks to shell to a pulp before occupying.
Meanwhile they are advancing in Kherson also.
All a bit hard to take in.
Question Author
Events move very fast.

Reported that Donetsk airport - which has been on the front line since 2014, is being attacked by UAF.
And Denis Pushkin the head of the Donetsk so-called People’s Republic - has fled.
I’m having to pinch myself here. It may be the fog of war …
Question Author
Pushilin not Pushkin for heavens sake
What does the Ukrainian on your avatar mean, ich?
Dare we hope they could take back Crimea?
Question Author
It isn't confirmed about Pushilin btw

Oh yes it means "Tie a yellow ribbon" (Zav'yazhi zhovtu strichku)
Early on after the capture of Kherson city by Russia, locals started tying yellow ribbons to trees as a sigh of resistance and as a symbol that one day soon it would be liberated again. So it's in solidarity with that.
It turns out that the Ukrainians have done a number on the enemy by making a fuss about Kherson, getting the Russians to take reinforcements from Donbas to there - and struck unexpectedly in a massive pincer movement, surrounding thousands of Russian troops in SE Kharkiv.
Russia has called an emergency meeting of the UN security council, and their representative is complaining - in all seriousness - about the deceit of the above. You could not make this stuff up.
Question Author
Crimea yes I'd say so.
The irony is, if Russia hadn't invaded on Feb 24 it would never probably have happened.
It's called "overplaying your hand" I think.
Thanks, ich. May they prevail; but I do feel sorry for those young Russian conscripts, though
Question Author
Yes indeed. Ukrainians are actually in danger of being overwhelmed by prisoners. What to do with them?
There was a film I saw of a Russian tank commander being rescued from his burning tank by Ukrainian troops. So occasionally acts of mercy occur.
It's a long hard slog but its in the right direction thanks to the bravery of the Ukrainians. Just hope they succeed.
Question Author
There’s a town in Donetsk called Vuhledar: it is an important junction at the main road south to Mariupol.
If it is liberated by Ukraine it cuts off another supply route and also leaves Mariupol - where Ukrainians have been raising flags from rooftops in the last days - vulnerable.
Yesterday while all this was going on Putin opened a giant Ferris wheel in Moscow.
It broke down shortly after.
Hopefully it’ll continue at pace. Once a largely conscripted army starts to retreat it tends to snowball.

Slava Ukraine!
ha, I wonder if the conscripts or the generals are in the vanguard...
