Apparently it's open to the public. I'd assume that's the reason as it's an opportunity for anyone to attend.
I think a lot of churches are holding services today.
…. and it’s televised to allow people to reflect together if they so wish.
strict anglicans feel their is one burial service and that is it.(*)

Romans sing wave and dance at the drop of a hat - incense and Latin if necessary.

(*) digging up and re-burial ( re-interment) is a big deal

However since the London bombings 2005 where as above a lot wanted to join in, they are more common (as this evg).
Lundy Tavistock Sq remembrance ( BMA Hse which looks like Lutyens because it is , Annie Besants theosophy hq, before she went bankrupt) hey asked why Lord Bigwig and Lady snooty wasnt there, and the organiser ( BMA pres I think) said - because they werent here on the day....

Readings Hymns and sermon - nothing like a service that the hardliners cd object to
o god I cant believe I have done a their, there mistake
My local church was open today for people to go in and give thanks for our Queen
Hardliners object to praying for the dead:
"The Archbishop of Canterbury spoke positively of the practice on All Souls Day 1914 but an explicit prayer for the departed issued by authority for the first time in 1917 brought forth protests from evangelicals Bishops Chavasse (Liverpool) and Knox (Manchester) although they were clearly in a minority. "

however the massive slaughter of the great War changed the minds of the devout ( punters, proles, cannon fodder)
and the calvinist Bishop fought er a rear guard action.
The very revd, his grace the archbishop of canterbury commented

"It's my service and I'll pray if I want to"
+ cantuar
//o god I cant believe I have done a their, there mistake//
