As well as shaking spiders out of your wellies before putting them on check for slugs in the toe. It's sixty years since I had to scrape a concertinaed slug from between my toes. They are still very sticky. :-(

Hmmm....thanks, Ael. That'll teach me not to drink Guinness from my wellies. :-(
Keep your wellies on 24/7 like the locals.
Texans and I suppose Mehicans
if they slept en plein air ( or al fresco)
had to empty gila monsters from outta their boos

( heeler - lizards with poisonous bites, so no fun at all)
Store your wellies on a cane upside down

Although slugs get everywhere, Barry I'll try that. We have a slug here that's a protected species. We're not allowed to injure or disturb it in any way. I tried not to look too closely as I prised it from between my toes.
We have lots of frogs in the back garden and a few nights ago, one hopped out from inside one of my gardening clogs as I was bringing them in.
Oh gawd...that's my worst nightmare. I have an exceptional fear, dare I say phobia, of the horrible things.
Or try putting old socks or tights over the tops of your wellies, closing off the openings.
I tried using plastic bags but found that made the insides sweaty, probably because the air couldn't get inside.

I spent a lot of my childhood playing with frogs, Ginge....yes we were poor.... ;-).... since moving to this field I haven't seen one frog. Sooner have a frog than a slug.

I hate slugs too, Pasta. And snakes but good old St. Pat sorted that for me.

Now socks or tights is a great idea! Thank you.....off to raid Dave's sock drawer....my size two feet won't fit. :-)
You leave my pantyhose alone!
Question Author
Oh I forgot you were around, Dave. Only need one pair of your pantyhose.... for all six wellies.
When we was in Florida, we always shook our footwear before putting it on. Fire ants, black widow spiders etc. Gulp!
