I'll admit I've been very lazy when it comes to defrosting my freezer (please don't ask how long, I'm embarrassed !) and the ice and frost build up is terrific. I turned it off on Thursday morning and today, two days later, there has been very little progress. Very little water has gathered on the bottom and there is still an awful lot of ice. To try and speed things up today, I placed two bowls of hot water in the freezer only to find them both frozen solid when I went back to check some time later ! What's going on - it's definitely turned off ? Anyone had a freezer take so long to defrost?

I keep telling myself I need to get a frost free freezer...I'm getting too old to be bent over trying to get every last scrap of ice out. If it's cooler next week, I'll set a few hours aside. I'm sure my heavily iced (old) freezer is contributing to my electric usage big time.

From now on in pasta, I'll be doing mine twice a year, as per instructions ! Don't want to go through this palaver again ..
I know what you mean Shirley. The worse it gets, the more I have the tendency to go into out-of-sight,out-of-mind mode.
it took a few hours but probably only cause it was 35 degrees outside
