We have just defrosted our freezer, an under worktop size, and
we are just too old to do this much more. What do you think of self defrosting ones any problems we should be aware of? Any help would be appreciated before we commit ourselves and wish we hadn't.

I have a frost free fridge freezer and haven't experienced any problems. Much better than the older types.

No known problems but they are not cheap.
Frost free? Yes, I have one, much better. I also have two older type which the same as you, I'd like to swap to frost free, what a chore they are.

My frost free fridge/freezer is very good, but I always buy Bosch. Did have a problem with one of another make years ago when it broke down over Christmas.
Main disadvantages are as dannyk13 says, they are a bit more expensive and they are not supposed to last as long. I still think they are worth every penny!!

I have a Samsung one, had it for 11 years with (touch wood) no problems.
Old gits here. We’ve had a self-defrosting fridge-freezer for ten years. Absolutely no problem.
